Overview

Desi Motivation is a Chrome extension that helps you stay focused by sending motivational reminders from your family members. This policy explains what data the extension collects, how it is used, and your rights over it.

Short version: All your data stays on your device. We collect nothing, transmit nothing, and store nothing on any server.

Data We Collect

Data stored locally on your device

The following is stored in Chrome’s local/session storage on your device only:

Family member names and selected emoji/message style	Identifying who sends each reminder
Family member photos (uploaded by you)	Showing a photo in notifications and toasts
Notification frequency setting	Controlling how often reminders appear
Session activity state (productive/unproductive minutes)	Driving the notification logic

Data we do NOT collect

We do not collect your browsing history
We do not collect or read the content of any web pages you visit
We do not collect any personally identifiable information beyond what you voluntarily enter during onboarding
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry of any kind
We do not use cookies

How Data Is Used

All data is used exclusively to run the extension on your device:

Your name is inserted into notification messages to make them feel personal
Family member details and photos are displayed in on-screen toasts and Chrome notifications
Browsing activity (productive vs. unproductive site classification) is computed locally in real time and never persisted beyond the current browser session
Notification frequency controls how often the extension reminds you

We do not share, sell, transmit, or disclose any data to any third party — ever.

The extension operates entirely offline. It makes no network requests of its own. No data ever leaves your device.

Data Storage

All data is stored using Chrome’s built-in storage APIs:

chrome.storage.local — persists across browser restarts (name, photos, settings)
chrome.storage.session — cleared when the browser session ends (activity state)

You can clear all extension data at any time by removing the extension or clearing its storage via Chrome’s extension settings.

Permissions Used

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

`storage`	Save your settings and family member data locally
`alarms`	Schedule periodic notification checks
`notifications`	Show Chrome system notifications
`tabs`	Detect which site is active to classify productive vs. unproductive activity
`scripting`	Inject the in-page toast UI and read YouTube video titles for content classification
`activeTab`	Read the URL of the currently active tab

No permission is used beyond its stated purpose.

Children’s Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
